Week 10 Article # 3

1.  Economy added 204k jobs in October; unemployment rate ticked up to 7.3 percent. Ylun Mui. November 8, 2013. Washington Post

2. Category: Economy

3. Level: Nationwide

4. This article concerns:
The U.S. economy added 204,000 jobs in October, according to data released Friday morning, defying expectations of a weak labor market in the face of the federal government shutdown. The Labor Department report showed strong hiring in industries such as retail and hospitality, manufacturing and health care.

5. This affects individuals/families:
This affects many individuals because we need jobs to survive, pay our bills, support our families and the list goes on. Finally we are able to see that jobs are being added because the holidays are coming up and many of us want to see our families and children happy.

6. What are your views?
I personally am really happy because I know how many people are desperately in need for a job and they need to provide for themselves and their families. With an increase and an addition of jobs it will help those people who need a job. The economy needs to get better and I feel this is a head start with us fixing one of the many problems we are in. Many retailers are hiring for the holidays which I think its great because if you do well and management likes your work they can decide to keep you after the holidays.
